When you create a project, you choose a mode based on what you have to upload. Xtimo AI adjusts what it does based on your choice.

BOQ + Blueprints

Upload: An Excel BOQ file and architectural blueprint PDFs

Use when: You have both files and want the most complete, accurate result.

AI reads your BOQ work items, extracts quantities from the blueprints, cross-references both sources, then finds prices from your element library. This mode gives the highest accuracy because quantities come from actual drawings.

Blueprints Only

Upload: Architectural blueprint PDFs only

Use when: You don't have an existing BOQ but have architectural drawings.

AI reads the blueprints and generates BOQ items from scratch — rooms, walls, doors, windows, finishes. Before extraction starts, you'll be asked to fill in a short project brief (room list, gross floor area, specification level) to help AI produce better results. Xtimo AI then extracts quantities and finds prices.

BOQ Only

Upload: An Excel BOQ file only

Use when: You have a BOQ with work items but need prices added.

AI reads your BOQ columns, extracts the work items, and finds prices from your element library. There is no quantity extraction from drawings in this mode.

Verbal Only

Upload: Nothing — just a text description

Use when: You're estimating from scratch and don't have drawings or a BOQ yet.

The AI Assistant guides you through building the BOQ through conversation. Describe the project — building type, size, scope — and AI proposes sections, items, and quantities. You refine through chat until the BOQ reflects what you need.
